A 45-year-old East London woman was arrested after being found in possession of a large quantity of Mandrax tablets.
Police spokesperson, Captain Hazel Mqala, said she was arrested in Cambridge Street on Thursday after alert members noticed that she was acting suspiciously.
“The members stopped her and ask permission to search her luggage. Upon searching her luggage, they found pillowcases filled with 5 858 Mandrax tablets with the estimated street value of R700 000,” she said.
The woman was charged with dealing in drugs and will appear in the East London Magistrate Court on Tuesday.
