An East London teenager was still missing at sea on Thursday after getting into difficulty while swimming at the Nahoon River mouth on Wednesday evening.
The National Sea Rescue Institute’s East London station commander, Geoff McGregor, said the 19-year-old local male had been swept away by rip currents and had disappeared under water.
A rescue operation was underway in collaboration with the Eastern Cape provincial government and the police, McGregor said.
No sign of the teenager has been found and police are continuing with an ongoing search.
