An East London taxi driver was arrested for overloading after he was caught transporting 41 school children in his vehicle.
Buffalo City Head of Traffic, Quinton Chetty, said the driver was transporting the school children between the ages of five and 17-year-old to various schools in the Vincent area on Tuesday.
Chetty said the man was immediately taken into custody by police and the school children were transported to school using a traffic services minibus.
He warned that vehicle overloading a was a serious offence which could lead to serious road accidents.
Chetty said Buffalo City Municipality would take a no-nonsense approach when it comes to vehicle overloading.
The man is expected to appear in court on Wednesday
