The man accused of the brutal murder of his student girlfriend is due to make his first appearance in the East London High Court on Thursday.
Twenty-five-year-old Alutha Pasile has been charged with the death of Fort Hare University law student, Nosicelo Mtebeni, in August.
The National Prosecuting Authority says he has also been charged with defeating the ends of justice.
Pasile allegedly killed the 23-year old Mtebeni before dismembering her body.
In August, the victim's torso was found stuffed in a suitcase in Quigney on the corners of Fleet Street and Fitzpatrick Road.
Pasile was arrested at his home nearby where black bags with more body parts, including Mtebeni's head and hands, were discovered.
The gruesome discovery was made when a police patrol was alerted by a motorist.
The accused not only abandoned his bid for bail but also declined legal representation.
