East London police have arrested a 65-year-old woman for being in possession of illegal medicine.
Police spokesperson, Captain Mlulei Mbi, said she was arrested in Cambridge on Friday morning.
He said police were conducting stop and search operations when they searched a 22-year-old man and found heroin in his possession.
"While still busy with him, a woman who claimed to be his mother arrived and when police requested to conduct a search they found a variety of medicines and syringes".
Mbi said when questioned the woman claimed to be helping people.
He said most of the medicine found after searching her car and handbag were scheduled drugs which can only be acquired with a prescription.
Mbi said when she could not produce a script for the drugs she was arrested.
The two were due to appear in court on Friday.
