Detectives from Gonubie in East London police are searching for a suspect who wounded a policeman who was responding to an alarm at a Post Office.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Sibongile Soci, said when police arrived on the scene in the early hours of Saturday morning, they found the suspect who claimed to be a security guard.
However, she said he was not dressed in any uniform and claimed to be working for a fictitious company.
Soci said when police attempted to search the suspect, he drew a firearm and fired a shot, wounding the policeman. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
She said police also discovered that the Post Office had been burgled, but it was still unclear if any money was taken.
