A group of off-duty state ambulance drivers are holding a protest in East London on Wednesday morning.
The Eastern Cape Health Department says at this stage services have not been affected.
Department spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo, says the protest relates to the non-payment of benefits that are due to them.
These relate to pay progression and overtime among other issues, an administrative problem that arose following the intervention in the Department by the Treasury.
"Some of these issues have now been affected by the processes that have to be followed in paying all the benefits and employing new employees, so we are going to engage with them and just explain to them that we are working towards finding a solution so that we can pay those benefits to all those affected" Kupelo said.
