Eight people have been arrested in George on fraud and corruption charges.
The Western Cape government says the arrests were the result of the forensic investigations unit working together with the auditing firm Deloitte and the police.
The spokesperson for Western Cape premier, Zak Mbehel, says the arrests on Friday related to supply chain management and the procurement of goods and services.
He says the eight appeared in court on Friday.
They were released on bail and had their cases remanded to the 18th of May.
In February, another eight people from George were arrested for selling government baby formula and one provincial employee was suspended for defrauding the Paarl hospital of almost 2 million rand.
