Nelson Mandela Bay's mayoral committee met on Wednesday to find ways to resolve the ongoing industrial action by library and traffic department administrative staff.
The municipality said in a statement that this followed several failed attempts to secure approval by Council to implement the four-notch increases agreed to by the employees and a special task team appointed by executive mayor Benson Fihla.
Metrominute reports that committee meetings are also being affected by the fall-out from the possibility of another invasion of Council by employees.
Local Government and Traditional Affairs MEC Mlibo Qoboshiyane has given the municipality three months in which to put its affairs in order, failing which he will consider invoking Section 139 of the Constitution.
