EFF faction wants Malema out

A group calling itself the defenders of the EFF constitution want party leader Julius Malema to step down while he sorts out his legal battle with the SA Revenue Service.

The group said in a statement yesterday that it does not want to head into the 2016 local government election campaign with a dark cloud hanging over them.

However, EFF spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said the party would make no apology for standing behind Malema.

Malema's sequestration case is expected back in court on the 1st of June.

An agreement between SARS and the firebrand leader collapsed last month and the revenue service now wants an additional R14 million rand in interest and penalties.
