Education Department approves filling of vacant posts at schools in PE

The Eastern Cape Education Department has approved the filling of substantive vacant posts at schools in Port Elizabeth's Northern areas.

Schools were closed in protest over teacher shortages, but will re-open again on Monday.

Chris Zamisa, the chairperson of the task team established following a meeting of school governing bodies on Wednesday, says they met with Education District Management on Thursday.

He told Algoa FM News that Acting Superintendent General, Ray Tywakadi, approved the filling of vacant posts.

Zamisa says a meeting with principals will take place today where District Director, Dr Nyathi Ntsiko, will convey this message

This message is going to be conveyed by the director and the verification will happen as to how many vacancies there are and how they compare with the stats of the Department.
