EC Woman's League backs Zuma, but Youth League don't

The ANC Womens League in the Eastern Cape has thrown its weight behind party president Jacob Zuma for a second term of office.

The Women's League said Zuma has inspired leadership transparency from the National Executive Committee to branch structures.

Women's League chairperson in the Eastern Cape, Nancy Sihlwayi, says Zuma's focus has always been on promoting the essence of leadership and ensuring healthy working relations with the ANC's alliance partners.

She says if ANC deputy president, Kgalama Motlanthe, should challenge Zuma for the leadership position of the ANC, then they would have to find another candidate for this position.

Meanwhile, the ANC Youth League in the Eastern Cape has completely shunned ANC president Jacob Zuma.

The Youth League has thrown its weight behind the party's current deputy president, Kgalame Motlanthe, who has yet to announce if he's challenging Zuma for the top spot.

It is also backing Tokyo Sexwale as the next ANC deputy president.

The Youth League says its not driven by personal hatred but by an urgent need to fill the leadership void currently being experienced.
