Eastern Cape police have launched a manhunt for a suspect who shot and killed a 59-year-old Ward Councillor in the Rasmeni Administrative area near eNgcobo on Saturday.
Spokesperson, Captain Namhla Mdleleni says it is alleged that the deceased was on his way home from town, after dropping off a passenger near his home.
She says an unknown man approached the victim and fatally wounded him.
Mdleleni says police were summoned and on arrival, they found the man already deceased.
He was the councillor of ward 15 at Rasmeni administrative area.
The motive for the attack is unknown, and police have opened a murder docket.
