An Eastern Cape provincial traffic officer has been killed by a hit-and-run driver.
Provincial Traffic spokesperson, Charles Bramwell, said the incident happened outside Ngcobo early on Sunday evening.
"The driver hit the officer and continued driving, but few kilometers down the road lost control and overturned his vehicle," Bramwell said.
He said the driver of the vehicle was not injured but was found to be drunk and was arrested by fellow officers who had given chase.
"SAPS will be investigating a case of culpable homicide as well as drunken driving," he said.
