Eastern Cape Transport Authorities are expecting traffic volumes to begin increasing on the province's roads into the night on Thursday, as people head home for the Easter holidays.
Provincial traffic spokesperson, Charles Bramwell, said that they're expecting the influx on the N2 and R61, among other routes.
He said traffic volumes are expected to peak at around midnight as Eastern Capers head home from the Western Cape and Gauteng.
"We will be having high visible patrols along the major routes where traffic officers will be patrolling with blue flashing lights on, deployed 30km's apart. We will also deploy two of our mobile roadworthy centres at strategic points in the province to check the road-worthiness of vehicles." Bramwell said.
"We therefore urge all motorists to adhere to the rules of the road as 90% of fatalities are caused by human error, overtaking at dangerous place, speeds to high for circumstances and motorists must please be self disciplined on the roads," Bramwell added.
