The Eastern Cape Department of Education has suspended a teacher from Mdeni near Dutywa after a video emerged showing the educator in a compromising position.
Department spokesperson Loyiso Pulumani, says the video that the teacher sent to several of his female learners trended on social media this past weekend.
He highlighted that the Department's Amathole Region District Director visited the school on Monday.
Pulumani says a decision was made by the school governing body that the teacher be suspended, immediately.
The investigation into the matter will continue.
Meanwhile, Pulumani says the Selborne College bullying matter remains within the ambit of the school's governing body and its own internal disciplinary measures.
Last week a photo of a learner with a bloodied lip and shirt did the rounds on social media after the teenager was allegedly beaten up by a group of boys at the school.
Pulumani says a team of officials went to investigate the matter at the school on Monday.
He says the matter remains in internal issue at the school, who will make recommendations to the Department after their investigation.
