Two Eastern Cape Taxi Associations who are owed just over a million Rand by the ANC in the province will be paid by the end of the month.
That's the word from Provincial Treasurer, Babalo Madikizela.
Earlier on Wednesday top officials from the Buffalo City and Amathole Taxi Association, met the ANC at the provincial headquarters in King Williams Town seeking payment.
According to a spokesperson for the Association's, Khaya Mphexeka, they are owed just over a million Rand in outstanding payments for ferrying party supporters to East London for the January 8th Statement by new ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa.
He said a 50 percent deposit was also paid a week later than agreed.
ANC provincial treasurer Babalo Madikizela, says they failed to pay the service providers on time as they did not budget for the number of people who turned up for the event.
"We had budgeted R10 million but our costs are going to almost R19 million, almost double the amount"
He says they will be processing payments and their deadline is the 31st of January.
