Two men have been arrested by Eastern Cape after an ingredient used in the manufacture of Tik was found in their possession.
Provincial police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender, said that the arrests were made at a vehicle checkpoint at Grahamstown on Friday.
"During a combined operation with Grahamstown K9, OCC, and the Traffic department, two suspects were arrested for dealing in drugs," said Govender.
"Members on duty stopped a Volkswagen Caddy during a vehicle checkpoint. During a search of the vehicle, 5.4kg's of Ephedrine HCL
was seized. The vehicle was also seized," she said.
Govender said that Ephedrine "is used to make Tik or part of Tik".
She said the estimated street value of the drugs seized is R250 000.
The two suspects are due in court next week.
