Five people were killed in a horror accident on the N2 between Peddie and King Williams Town.
Provincial traffic spokesperson, Charles Bramwell, said four other people were seriously injured in the head-on collision between two cars at Tamara.
He said three men and a woman in one of the vehicles were killed while one person died and four others seriously injured in the second vehicle.
Police have opened a culpable homicide docket.
The accident brings the number of people killed in accidents in the Eastern Cape this weekend to at least 12 after seven people were killed in an accident on the R61 on Saturday.
