EC rape suspect escapes from Court moments before first appearance

Eastern Cape police are looking for a rape suspect who escaped from the Zwelitsha Magistrates Court on Monday.

The 21-year-old Mzuxolile Skolpati who lives in die Mxhalanga Location outside King Williams Town was arrested on Sunday and literally ran away moments before being taken into the courtroom.

Spokesperson Captain Siphokazi Mawisa says it would have been his first court appearance.

She says they have been looking for Skolpati since Monday but with no success.

If re-arrested, he will face an additional charge of escaping from lawful custody.
