An Alicedale woman will come face to face with a man who raped her and is serving a 25-year sentence for the crime at St Albans prisons in Port Elizabeth.
The meeting on Tuesday forms part of the Department of Correctional Services Victim Offender Dialogue, a national programme launched by Minister Sibusiso Ndebele, in 2012.
Ministry spokesperson, Logan Maistry, says this is a voluntary process where the offender and victim are able to talk about the effects of crime.
"Through the victim Offender programme the Department of Correctional services is embarking on a renewed focus to bring victims of crime, offenders and communities together so that relationships can be restored and forgiveness sought as part of the rehabilitation process" he said
Meanwhile, Maistry says Minister Ndebele, will also unveil a wall of rememberance.
"The Minister will also unveil a wall of rememberance to honour those officials who died in the line of duty also to pay tribute to correctional services to officials who play a very important role in the rehabilitation process"
