Eastern Cape Premier, Phumulo Masualle, launched the 2018 Public Service Month at an event in Nelson Mandela Bay on Tuesday.
He told hundreds of public servant gathered at the East Cape Training Centre that over the next few weeks heads of various local government departments and administration officials will be dispatched to Wards around Nelson Mandela Bay to offer door-to-door services to the people.
"We want public servants to see first-hand the conditions our people live under and find solutions to their problems," Premier Masualle said.
He added that their intention was to fast-track service delivery blockages in communities.
"On the 28th we will re-convene to appreciate what has emerged out of it, what best practices there are and how best to improve the services we provide to the people," said Masualle.
The Government utilises the month of September annually to evaluate the quality of services rendered by public servants to the people.
The Government said that during Public Service month "we will further strive to instil and reinforce good ethics and professionalism in how public servants do their work. We will also recommit and rededicate public servants to the principles of Batho Pele".
