The Eastern Cape had spent R46.3 billion or 73.9% of its adjusted 2014/15 budget of R62.6 billion by the end of the third quarter, according to figures published by National Treasury.
The figures show that by the end of the third quarter, the Eastern Cape had spent 61.8% of its capital budget of R3.6 billion.
Education had spent 71.9% of its capital budget of R1.1 billion and Health 56.5% of R1.2 billion.
The province will know what its equitable share of national revenue will be, as well as details of conditional grants when Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene tables the Division of Revenue Bill 2015 with the National Budget in the National Assembly on Wednesday.
Wednesday’s Budget will also reveal how much funding has been allocated for the Mzimvubu hydroelectric and irrigation scheme in the Transkei for the next three financial years.
