Eastern Cape Premier, Lubabalo Mabuyane on Tuesday visited two major road infrastructure projects currently being undertaken by the South African National Roads Agency at eQonce.
He says these form part of 18 projects on SANRAL's project portfolio in the Eastern Cape, which was announced by him during his State of the Province Address in February.
The premier says this is a government investment of about R7 billion, aimed at decongesting the traffic in the area.
"We are really allowing the traffic to flow easily into the town, and it's an exciting moment for the people of the Eastern Cape who goes to other parts of the province - especially to the west", he said.
He says this road will assist a great deal to get people moving, and this is about changing the socio-economic outlook of the province.
The construction takes place on a section of the N2 stretching from Green River to Buffalo River.
Mabuyane also visited the Belstone interchange in Breidbach, which connects traffic from East London, eQonce, and Bhisho.
