EC premier sets short term objectives for his MEC's


Eastern Cape premier Pumulo Masualle met his executive committee on Thursday to thrash out a short term programme of engagement with the people of the Eastern Cape.

In a statement after the meeting in Bhisho this morning, Masualle said they want to thank the people of the province for returning the ANC to power in a resounding way, while also reaffirming the Bhisho government's commitment to making theh province a better place than it was 20 years ago.

He says Members of the Executive Council also deliberated on the Provincial Communications Strategy to ensure that Government communicates its Proposed Programme of Action in the short term to the people of the province.

"The Plan was warmly received by the Executive and is being strengthened to ensure that Government communicates its Proposed Programme of Action in the short term; to enable the citizenry to be informed, " according to a statement from the premier's office.

"As part of the activities and programmes, the Executive also deliberated on its approach for Youth Month which will mark the 38th anniversary of June 16, 1976 in the context of the 20 year Celebrations of our Freedom."

"Key Programmes to be marked during June, 2014, will be the Ingquza Massacre as well as Youth activities honouring young people's role in the 20 years of Freedom in partnership with the NYDA in the province."

"The Eastern Cape Government will in partnership with the University of Fort Hare and other stakeholders; such as the National Heritage Council participate in Provincial Africa Day celebrations scheduled to take place at Fort Hare, today and tomorrow (29 - 30 May 2014)."

"The Celebrations at Fort Hare will also feature a Lecture series by respected academics.
On, Sunday, 0 1 June 2014; in partnership with Umhlobo Wenene FM; the Executive will participate in a Prayer Session for Members of the Provincial Legislature with the clergy at Jan Smuts Stadium in East London."
