A 42-year-old man has been jailed for 15 years for a 2012 armed robbery at the Qumbu Post Office.
The Hawks in the Eastern Cape said that Gcinubomi Sigoxo was sentenced in the town’s Magistrate’s court on Tuesday.
Spokesperson Captain Anelisa Ngcakani said that he was arrested on the same day of the robbery on 23 February 2012 after he and two other armed men stormed in and demanded money.
She said during the incident the manager was able to escape through a back door and alert police who later arrested Sigoxo and recovered a 9 mm pistol and five rounds of ammunition.
He was later convicted on charges of business robbery and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
