EC policeman shoots wife before turning the gun on himself

Eastern Cape police are mourning the deaths of two police members in a murder suicide.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Basil Seekoei, says the 33-year-old off-duty police sergeant was shot dead by her husband on Sunday night.
He says the shooting occurred at her residence in Goede Hoop Drive, Fairbridge Heights, in Uitenhage.
The preliminary investigation indicates that her 33-year-old husband also a SAPS member (Constable) stationed at Kirkwood, shot her and then shot himself. Both died on the scene The police were alerted by neighbours after gunshots were heard coming from the house.
A police firearm was found on the scene. The motive of the murder is unknown and we cannot speculate at this early stage of the investigation
