A 55-year-old policeman from Libode in the Eastern Cape has been shot and killed in line of duty.
Police spokesperson Sibongile Soci identified him as Warrant Officer, Mlungiseleli Dukuza, who was a relief commander at the Libode police station.
Soci says Dukuza and three other members responded to a business burglary in Libode last night after being alerted by a security guard.
She says when they arrived at the scene they came under fire.
Soci says Dukuza was hit in the upper body and died later in hospital.
A 40-year-old colleague was also wounded and in a stable condition.
