Police in Maluti in the Eastern Cape are continuing the search for four suspects who killed a security guard and raped two learners at the Mount Hargreaves Secondary School in Matatiele.
Police spokesperson, Captain Raphael Motloung, said it's alleged that the men attacked the security guard in the early hours of Wednesday morning, strangling him with a cloth and beating him with a hammer.
He said they took the guard's firearm and then proceeded to threaten a group of teachers in their cottage before kicking in the doors of some classrooms to steal the school's computers.
Motloung said the men then went to the girl's hostel where they raped two girls, aged 17 and 19. He added that the suspects also fled the scene with the learner's cellphones.
Motloung said the motive for the attack may only become apparent after an arrest has been made.
Police are investigating a case of murder, rape and robbery.
