Eastern Cape police arrested a 31-year-old man, said to be a pastor, for the rape of a teenage girl last year.
Police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana, said the man was arrested on Saturday by members of the Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit in eMaxesibeni (Mt Ayliff).
He said the incident occurred in the Sugarbush Locality in September 2021, but according to Kinana, the matter was not reported to the police immediately.
He said the suspect will appear in court on Monday.
Kinana said the arrest was welcomed by the Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Nomthetheleli Mene.
