A serial rapist and murderer has been given four life sentences in the regional court in Komani, formerly Queenstown.
Eastern Cape police spokesperson, Captain Khaya Tonjeni, said that 37-year-old Headman Mdyosi, was also sentenced on Friday to a further 105 years after his DNA linked him to gruesome crimes committed in Lady Frere in 2012.
He was convicted on Thursday on four counts of murder, rape and the attempted rape and murder of a 65-year-old woman.
Police said he was only arrested in June 2015 when he sexually assaulted his sixth victim and his DNA subsequently linked him to the Lady Frere cases.
Tonjeni said Mdyosi's crime spree was also committed while he was out on parole following an 18-year-sentence for murder, housebreaking and theft in 2002. He was paroled in 2010.
He said judge Mbulelo Jokwana remarked during sentencing that Mdyosi had shown no remorse throughout the trial.
