The Eastern Cape government says 600 potential growers, have been identified as part of its efforts to develop a cannabis industry in the province.
Premier Lubabalo Mabuyane says the provincial Executive Council welcomed a report on the preparatory work that has been done in this regard.
The report also contained the finalised terms of reference for the development of the Provincial Cannabis strategy and business plan.
Mabuyane says efforts to convert and develop the Lusikisiki College to become a Cannabis College are underway while the provincial department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform assisting farmers, to apply for both Hemp and Marijuana licenses.
Further engagements, will also be held with national government on gaps in the draft the Bill.
