The 32-year-old mother Eastern Cape mother accused of killing her four children with a sledgehammer has died in hospital.
Police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana, said Nomboleko Simayile died on Sunday after taking ill while in police custody.
“She reported to the police that she was not feeling well but did not say what the nature of the sickness was. She was then immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention, where she allegedly died,” Kinana said.
He said a postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of Simayile’s death.
Kinana said she was arrested after her four children were bludgeoned to death on Wednesday the 9 November at Mhlabubomvu Locality near Ngcobo.
An Inquest docket has been registered for investigation by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate(IPID).
