A Kirkwood woman has appeared in the town's magistrates court after she allegedly placed her newborn baby in a black bag and dropped him in a long drop.
Police spokesperson, warrant officer, Gerda Swart, says 33-year old Nombulelo Mbengo appeared in court on Friday on a charge of murder.
Swarts says community members informed police that Mbengo had given birth to a baby boy in October but she could not explain the whereabouts of the child.
Mbengo was arrested last month and remains in police custody.
The case was postponed until the 26th of November.
