An Eastern Cape father killed his three children before turning his gun on himself.
Police spokesperson, Captain Dineo Koena, said the tragedy took place in Mthatha on Sunday night.
She said the 48-year-old man shot his two daughters, aged 6 and 8 and his 9-year-old son and them himself at his home in Northcrest, Mthatha.
Koena said the bodies were discovered this morning by the man's wife who alerted the police.
The motive for the family killing is unknown and their names are being withheld for now.
