A 48 year-old woman from Mdantsane in East London who was found in possession of mandrax tablets worth an estimated R192 000, has been released on bail.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Nkosikho Mzuku, said she was granted bail of R2 000 during a court appearance on Monday.
He says she was arrested at a house in Unit 15 last month in a joint operation between the East London K9 Unit and members of the police's Crime Intelligence Unit.
Mzuku said The East London police dog unit was present at the operation where 3-thousand 208 mandrax were discovered.
The National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson in the Eastern Cape Tsepo Ndwalaza, identified the suspect as Phelisa Magugu.
She is facing a charge of dealing with drugs.
Ndwalaza says the drugs were found in a shack which belongs to Magugu's son, who immediately took his belongings and fled when he learnt that his mother had been arrested.
He went on to say that further investigations are being done and the police are tracing for Magugu's son's whereabouts.
He added that Magugu is due to appear again in court on 25 May.
