The Hawks in the Eastern Cape have welcomed the life sentence imposed on a man who killed two girlfriends, one of whom was a police officer.
Hawks spokesperson, Captain Yolisa Mgolodela, said Zingisile Kakana, was sentenced in the Maluti Regional Court on Wednesday for the murder of Constable Pumla Mabindisa, who was a member of the Cedarville Police Station.
He also received a jail sentence for stealing her firearm during the incident in December 2021.
Mgolodela says he then went to meet another girlfriend, Noluyolo Mpumlwana and confessed to killing Mabindisa.
She says Kakana then killed Mpumlwana when she wanted to report him to the police.
The Provincial Head of the Hawks, Major General Mboiki Ngwenya welcomed the sentences imposed on Kakana.
