A 21-year-old man from Mdantsane in East London will appear in court on Wednesday after police found sophisticated equipment to manufacturer bank cards in his possession.
The suspect was arrested by members of the East London Hawks and the Crime Intelligence and Protection Services unit of Mdantsane, following a tip-off.
Among the items seized by police following Monday's raid on the man's shack were a laptop computer, a bank card reader as well as a laminating and embossment machine.
Police also confiscated logos of bank cards and blank ATM cards of different banking institutions.
Hawks commander, lieutenant-colonel, Sithembele Sani, says this is the first time that they've recovered such sophisticated ATM card manufacturing equipment in the East London region.
