An Eastern Cape man has appeared in court in Bloemfontein on charges of high treason.
Thirty-one-year-old Louis Lategan was arrested in Aberdeen on Tuesday as part of the ongoing investigation into a plot to kill ANC leaders at the party's elective conference in December.
According to police spokesperson, Billy Jones, it is believed that Lategan was to be responsible for blowing up fuel storage tanks in Port Elizabeth.
Four other men, who were allegedly part of a conspiracy to commit acts of terror, have already appeared in court.
Hein Boonzaaier was granted bail of R80 000 while his co-accused, Mark Trollip, Martin Keevy and Johan Prinsloo, were denied bail.
Lategan's case was postponed to the seventh of February for further investigation.
