A 31-year-old man was arrested and is expected to appear in the Willowvale Magistrate’s Court after allegedly stabbing his mother to death at Jojweni Location, Nkelekethe Village, Willowvale, Eastern Cape police said in a statement on Monday.
Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, said the man was arrested at his home on Sunday.
“It is alleged that the suspect stabbed to death his mother, whose identity is still being withheld until all her relatives are informed of her death.”
The deceased, 64, died instantly after being stabbed and the motive for the murder is still not clear at this point in time.
“It is alleged that the suspect went to a local tavern after allegedly murdering his mother. He told the people at the tavern that he had killed his mother. The people went to his home where they found the deceased already dead,” Manatha said.
The suspect has been charged with murder.
