A man was stabbed to death on Thursday in a dispute over a girlfriend that he was apparently sharing with his attacker.
Police spokesman Jackson Manatha said the 24-year old man was killed at the Nkelekethe locality in Teko Springs Village in Centane near Butterworth in the Eastern Cape.
Jackson said that the deceased was approached by his attacker at an Intonjane ceremony – a traditional rite of passage ceremony marking the graduation from girl into womanhood.
“The motive for the murder is believed to be jealousy as both the suspect and the deceased were believed to be sharing one girlfriend.”
He said police expected to make an arrest as the man’s attacker was from the same village.
