Two learners have been killed and a number of others injured following a road accident on the R56 at Zwelitsha in Mount Fletcher on Monday morning.
It is alleged that a VW 22 seater bus with 21 passengers on board was travelling from Matatielle toward Mount Fletcher when the driver lost control shortly before 8 am.
The vehicle overturned and two learners, aged 17 and 20 were killed. Two other learners were critically injured with eight passengers in total sustaining injuries. They were all from the Ramafole Senior Secondary School in Mount Fletcher.
The injured were taken to the Tailor Bequest Memorial Hospital for further medical assistance.
It's alleged that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and speeding.
The Department of Transport says the driver tested positive for alcohol and was found to be nearly three times over the legal limit.
He was immediately arrested and will appear in court soon on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving and culpable homicide.
