The Eastern Cape Health Department said it was on high alert after eight learners were hospitalised on Wednesday in another food poisoning scare.
Spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo, said the learners were from the Mgxotyeni primary school near Debe Nek and were taken to a hospital in Keiskammahoek.
He said the children were suffering from diarrhoea and were vomiting, while some complained of severe headaches.
Kupelo said the children reported feeling sick after eating chips and biscuits bought from a spaza shop.
He said they are being monitored and were in stable condition.
Last week, about 120 learners from two schools in Komani were taken to two health facilities after suffering from an apparent food-borne disease.
The department said tests were yet to confirm the cause of their illness.
