The number of initiates who have died in the Eastern Cape from botched circumcisions stands at 13.
The Eastern Cape Department of Health says most of the fatalities were in the OR Tambo District where 10 initiates have died.
EC Health Department spokespeson, Sizwe Kupelo, said eight of the deaths occurred at illegal initiation schools.
The Department said this week that a community hall in Libode had to be made available to assist the St Barnabas Hospital where 30 initiates were admitted.
The hospital now has no beds for ordinary patients because of the number of initiates admitted after being rescued from initiation schools.
An NGO has also assisted the Department by establishing initiation schools near the hospital.
