Eastern Cape Health MEC, Nomakhosazana Meth braved Saturday's heatwave in the province and visited the Dordrecht Hospital, where she met with hospital management on her first stop of planned weekly visits to hospitals and clinics.
Department spokesperson, Siswe Kupelo says the MEC will also meet with workers and union leaders to stress the importance of everyone doing their bit to ensure that the quality of services drastically improve.
MEC Meth has heaped praise on healthcare workers, who she said had been at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19.
"There won't be a week that will pass without me setting foot to our facilities. In some cases, we will make unannounced visits so that we will get to experience first hand the service our people receive instead of relying on prepared reports. These visits form part of our greater strategy of ensuring we deliver effective and efficient services to the millions of people who rely on our clinics and hospitals," she said.
