The Eastern Cape Health Department says it will be seeking an urgent interdict to stop the ongoing illegal strike by emergency services personnel.
The near two-week-long strike over outstanding back-pay has brought EMS services in the province to a complete standstill.
The Department says violence and intimidation has also characterised the wild-cat strike.
Health Department spokesperson, Siyanda Manana, says once they've obtained the interdict they will proceed with action against those EMS employees involved in the strike.
Earlier the department said intimidation and damage to property was a cause for concern.
Late Tuesday shots were fired at a vehicle transporting 11 patients from Frere Hospital, East London, to the Frontier Hospital in Queenstown.
The vehicle received a police escort to Queenstown and a case was opened.
Damage estimated at R1m was also caused to the provincial call centre, forcing its closure.
The strike was prompted by issues relating to overtime, performance bonuses, salaries, and discrepancies in salaries.
