Cape Wools has urged wool producers to vaccinate their sheep timeously against Rift Valley fever.
In a statement today Cape Wools said the disease usually breaks out in late summer to autumn, between February and March and during high rainfall seasons.
Cape Wools manager, Louis de Beer, has advised farmers to use the Clone 13 vaccination has been proven to be more efficient in producing anti-bodies.
Last December the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries warned about a possible new outbreak of Rift Valley Fever as a result of high rainfall forecast for the months of December to February.
