Twenty-six thousand hectares of land has been destroyed by raging farmland fires in the Joe Gqabi District in the Eastern Cape.
Working on Fire Eastern Cape spokesperson, Ntabiseng Mokone, says the fire started at Ossa farm on Sunday and then spread across to Barkly East.
Mokone says about 50 firefighters are still battling to extinguish the fire.
She says 15 farms have been affected and seven have been totally destroyed so far.
Mokone says farmers have been warned to remove their livestock because the fire is still ongoing.
She says it's not yet clear how the fire started.
