Eastern Cape police are searching for three men who brutally assaulted an elderly farmer in his farmhouse on Wednesday night, leaving him with burn wounds to his upper body.
Police spokesperson, Captain Ursula Roelofse, said 74-year-old Francis Davidson was tied up and assaulted over his body by three men who broke into the farmhouse.
She said Davidson's son went to the farm Whoa-Ha near the Port River Bridge on Thursday morning to check on his father.
“It was then determined that the previous night three suspects broke the main door and entered the house. They tied up Davidson and assaulted him all over his body he also had some burn wounds on his upper body while demanding money,” Roelofse said.
She said the assailants also "cooked food, ate, and in the morning left with a Mahindra bakkie” that was in the garage.”
Captain Roelofse said Davidson’s son reported and SAPS immediately followed up on information and found the stolen car burnt in the Tsitsana, Katkop area.
She said no firearms were used in the incident and Davidson was taken to a doctor where he was treated and later discharged.

Agri Eastern Cape said it condemned the attack on Davidson, whose son is a member of the agricultural body.
