Members of teacher union Sadtu have escalated their campaign of disrupting education district offices across the Eastern Cape.
Education Department spokesperson, Loyiso Pulumani, says Sadtu members effectively shut down the education department head office in Zwelitsha and also at Confinvaba today.
Yesterday Sadtu members shut down district offices in Port Elizabeth, East London, Grahamstown and Fort Beaufort.
They are demanding that education superintendent-general, Modidima Mannya, step down.
Sadtu has blamed him for the crisis in education in the province.
On Monday, the Democratic Alliance lodged a complaint against Sadtu with the Human Rights Commission and also called on the premier Noxolo Kiviet to step in.
